About this deal
Thanks to @GaryOkie, definitely stay away from HTTP/cgi-bin API for this doorbell camera which will hang this camera and need hard reset. The next automation I set up was mobile push notifications which trigger when someone is at the front door. At first, I used the doorbell press as my trigger, but I was missing a lot of events because my local delivery drivers usually do not press the doorbell. I decided to instead use motion events to trigger the notifications, with AI to filter out only the events which actually contain people. Doorbell Person Alert Notification this is different app from the Amcrest View Pro I used for my other Amcrest camera, they do not work across product types.

The only beef I have with this door bell is that there is no way forcing it to "Night Color" mode only. It will automatically switch from Color to B/W if the light is low and B/W to color if some car shining head light to its image sensor. Definitely it's a feature request to developer to have this option enable. Ring PRO suffer the same issue when it first came out but they eventually update the firmware to have it permanently set Color mode at night. Really hope Amcrest look into this 100% I got the doorbell before I received their rebate offer. I was going to do this write-up anyway, works out wellBecause I do not use the Amcrest app at all with this doorbell I did add me another shell command to reboot the doorbell should I ever need to. motion detection zones are the grid map you mark on/off. I cannot turn off an area without Clear setting to start over. Night time performance was also really good, again it did take me by surprise at how usable the footage was, particularly the infrared LEDs combined with the image processing on the camera do a very good job of not just completely blowing out my face which a lot of other cameras do, a really impressive job there.

Automation Example #2 - AI Enhanced Push Notifications So I want to start out with underlining how important the next sentence is when it comes to this product.

Compounding the matter even worse...motion detection is based on the substream and look at the substream FPS - they dropped down to below 6 FPS with an iframe/key rate of 0.25 - you will miss motion most of the time with that issue... The doorbell resetting the night vision to smartlight/auto after a reboot is a bug. It can be changed with the API automatically at sunset via Home Assistant to ensure it is set how you want it. I had mine set to Auto (the default) along with bright LED porch lights so the doorbell was always in color mode at night. Maybe you can also increase your porch light brightness instead of using automation as a workaround?Motion detection and person detection works really well, person detection can take a few seconds extra to notify you over the standard motion detection, so you may want to fine tune your sensitivity so that you don’t miss the start of clips, again this is where it would be useful to be able to adjust the seconds before recording time as very occasionally I would find it missing the start of the clip when it was using person detection only, but that happened very occasionally. Overall the person detection works really well in both daytime and night time settings on the Amcrest AD410. Storage
