About this deal
I had a conversation with my girlfriend about it, and asked her how she felt about mutual flirtation. She asked me to not do anything 'cheaty.' When I asked her what that meant to her, she did not elaborate.

Also, ritual prevention is a crucial part of the process. You must be able to identify what physical or mental rituals you are engaging in when you’re having an OCD spike. Just like the person should not respond to the door knob exposure by washing his hands, you will need to learn the skills to make room for uncertainty and fear and resist mental rituals when you script. The idea of exposure is that you call up the uncertainty so that you can get really good at experiencing it. The goal is not to rid yourself of thoughts, feelings and uncertainty but to change your relationship with it when it shows up. I ended up filing for divorce soon after the affair started. I wouldn't probably do it again. I am in a happy marriage now with another man, and I can't imagine cheating. I'm happy that I cheated at that point in my life, though. It got me out of a toxic and abusive marriage.OCD thoughts can come up in any form. They will show up in any creative way to make you uncertain, because if you are uncertain you will perform mental and physical compulsions to make sure it’s OCD. This is the crafty way OCD works. You might want to say to yourself, “Maybe I did mouth the thoughts instead of thinking them. There is no way for me to prove it so I will just take the chance. If I did mouth the thoughts, maybe that means I believe them and it’s not OCD. ‘Oh well’ to that too! I will just keep living my life and stop trying to figure it out. If I try to figure it out, I am doing a certainty-seeking compulsion that will make my OCD stronger. I will call this OCD and maybe I’m wrong, but I’m not going to let this fear control my life anymore.” If you were my client, I may also make you mouth your scary thoughts intentionally multiple times a day until you habituate to the experience. This is a type of therapy called, Exposure and Response Prevention which is the evidence-based therapy for OCD.

I was reading a news article about a kidnapping on my phone before bed. I had a thought that I didn’t want to keep the article open in my phone overnight. My first boyfriend and I both worked at a local movie theater chain but at different locations. I was a manager at my location, and he was a regular employee at his. I knew that he had previously (I thought) had a huge crush on one of his coworkers, but she had turned him down because she was dating someone else." He convinced me he was going to leave his partner, and I believed him, but it just never came to fruition. He was too scared to leave her. It all came to a head when I had to move overseas after about a year. We promised each other we'd do long distance until I could return, but of course this didn't happen. He broke up with me a few weeks later, although we kept in touch for another couple of years. We were about to get in the car at the Santa Monica pier and my sister suggested walking across the parking lot to look at the ocean. I had a thought that we would be hit by a car in this busy parking lot because of the last minute change of plans. After all, it was not what we were supposed to do when we could have just entered the car to safety.
