If I did mouth the thoughts, maybe that means I believe them and it’s not OCD. ‘Oh well’ to that too! I will just keep living my life and stop trying to figure it out. If I try to figure it out, I am doing a certainty-seeking compulsion that will make my OCD stronger. I will call this OCD and maybe I’m wrong, but I’m not going to let this fear control my life anymore.” If you were my client, I may also make you mouth your scary thoughts intentionally multiple times a day until you habituate to the experience. This is a type of therapy called, Exposure and Response Prevention which is the evidence-based therapy for OCD.
