Now comes the NUX Horseman- a none too subtle reference to the original unit if ever there was one. The Klon Centaur boasts a massive footprint by today’s standards, and NUX have managed to make its take on it even more viable by producing it in the increasingly popular mini pedal format – it literally fits in the palm of your hand. Without even plugging it in it can easily raise a certain amount of suspicion. A Klon-inspired drive by a reputable UK builder that places an active treble and bass EQ after the overdrive and a Mids/presence control before the overdrive. While the latter can change the overall character of the saturation from smooth to crunchy, the former controls allow “around the edges” sculpting of the driven tone without affecting the crucial character of the mids.

All in all I'm delighted with this pedal and it has become my favourite go-to effect in the few weeks that I've had it. II think it's a bit of a hidden gem, perhaps dismissed by many because its not from one of the big name brands but it's definitely staying on my pedalboard for sure.
